Three Wheeled Buggies
Three-wheeled buggies are great for strolling around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver even in tight places.
If you want a smooth ride with your pram, choose models with 360deg front wheels with swivel. They are, however, susceptible, to punctures. Make sure you have a repair set.
Sturdy frame
New figures show that three-wheeled buggies, that symbol of the decade that had more money than common sense, are in a steep decline. They've been replaced with four-wheelers that are able to handle a wider range of terrain, while still looking swanky and being easy to push.
The basic principle is that the larger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with rough ground and bumpy pavements. Having larger wheels both front and back makes it much easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn and 3 year old and found it was able to withstand cobbles, grass rough roads, dirt tracks, and kerbs. Kath said that "it is solid to push and very solid when traversing difficult terrain. The tyres, that are inflated and require to be pumped up regularly, have built-in suspension. This was very comfortable for my kids.
Another thing to consider is the size of the seat and shape. You want the seat to be large enough for your child to be comfortable and to allow them to lie down. Certain three-wheel buggies come with the option of lying flat that allows the child to face you, while others only allow a parent-facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road or walking in muddy areas. This buggy can be used as a single from birth and then adapts to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth until age 4. It includes a bumper, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a large padded seat. The storage options are great too, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets on the hood, and a handy pouch on the rear of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels will give your buggy more stability when driving over rough terrain. This is perfect for off-road buggies. They also allow you to maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have rotating front wheels that help you navigate around tight corners, whereas others are designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability with which they can be driven. This also helps when you crash into the roots of a tree or stray kerb as the front wheel will lift up a bit to prevent you from hitting it.
A lot of 3 wheel pushchairs have air-filled tyres. This means they can be used on a variety of terrains and are far more flexible than 4-wheeler. They are also lighter. However, they're susceptible to punctures, so you'll need to keep a repair kit, spare inner tube, and pump on hand.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo Lux are some of our favourite 3-wheelers. These buggies, as per MFM's Kath, have larger wheels that she claims "perform well on grass, gravel roads and market town cobbles", and can easily climb or descend kerbs. They also have a suspension system which in her words "smoothes out bumps very effectively".
The downside of having larger wheels is that they can make buggies quite large and can struggle to fit through narrow spaces. This is an issue if you're using it as a jogger or to maneuver through narrow doorways when out and about. Fortunately, the majority of models come with small folding options that allow you to take off the front wheels to create more compact storage.
Easy to Manoeuvre
A three-wheeled buggy is more comfortable to drive with children. The way they are constructed means that the front wheels spin at a quick pace and are extremely easy to maneuver which makes them perfect for tricky terrain such as parks, cobbles or bumpy pavements, as well as dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried an all-wheeler with her toddler, and she said: "The Terrain is a joy to maneuver on rough terrain. The front swivel wheel was particularly helpful." I was also impressed with how well it coped with bumps, particularly when using the brake operated by hand. It was extremely stable when for descending or on a rough terrain."
The only drawback to this incredible mobility is that the 3 wheel buggy 's larger wheels do sometimes mean that it can be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces - something to be aware of if you live in a metropolitan region. If this is a problem then a four-wheeled buggy might be the better choice for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars are the ideal method to shield your child from scrapes and bumps when out and out and about. They are simple and quick to install and make your child feel safe and secure whilst out on the town or taking on tough terrain.

The bumper bar is designed to complement the sleek lines on the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller. It comes with a soft, padded surface to provide a comfortable place for your child to grasp onto while walking. The sturdy construction and sturdy design will ensure that your child will be able to enjoy strolling around town without having to worry about falling or leaning forward.
The fabric sling seat sits snug inside the frame rather than on top of it like modular seats. It provides the lowest center of gravity at the appropriate height for your newborn and also providing an excellent weight distribution to facilitate kerb pop (it requires less effort to push the buggy over and up a curb than you might think). MFM reviewer Kath found it coped really well with cobbles and grass and is a great option for jogging thanks to its lockable swivel wheel on the front and air-filled tyres.
This bumper bar is sure to turn heads wherever it is used. It has a sophisticated and fashionable design. Available in a range of finishes and colors and designs, it can be tailored to suit your personal style. The bumper bar is easily removed and put in place using the quick-release mechanism. The bumper bar is also easy to clean since it is constructed from strong materials. This makes it a good option for families seeking a stylish and safe stroller accessory.
Comfort
A 3-wheel buggy is the ideal off-road vehicle for maneuverability and performance. This kind of buggy is simple to steer and turns in a flash thanks to its perfect geometry, engineering, and weight distribution.
The Sport's clever design places the sling seat made of fabric inside the frame, not sitting on top as modular seats. This allows it to have a lower center of gravity which means it's more comfortable to push, has a lighter curb-pop (you don't have to exert the same effort to raise the buggy's nose over a curb) and also provides better balance and stability. With the 16" rear wheels, the lockable front wheel, and tyres that are air-filled, you can enjoy an easier, more comfortable jogging.
The only stroller in our collection with an adult-facing seat that can also accept an infant car seat or carrycot, you can ensure your family's future is secure and enjoy every adventure from the very first day and for years to come!
It's not the only reason to love this buggy - our MFM reviewer Kath was amazed by how big it is as well. There's a huge easily accessible basket that's surprisingly roomy for a buggy this small as well as an excellent zip-up pouch on the rear of the seat and even 2 smaller mesh pockets in the hood to keep your phone and keys.
